As promised, it begins…

By amandamonaco

Was it really so hard for me to start this blog? Apparently, yes. I’ve been meaning to do this for years! At first, I flirted with the whole MySpace blog thingie, but it wasn’t really working. Then I had to ask all these different people which one I ought to use, and then I realized that I could go on forever asking people what blog programs they use, so I finally, this morning, just hopped online and signed up with WordPress. And it took a whopping two minutes.

It’s kind of funny: in many ways, I do have the technology thing going on (what with using the Brian Moore iGuitar with GarageBand and teaching people how to use it) but at the same time, the web thing? Really pathetic am I. (Think of Yoda’s voice on that one.) Slowly but surely, it’s happening.

Being out of grad school should mean that things come together a little more. I loved going to grad school, but man, it was ROUGH. Lots of studying of stuff I’d never heard of, like the Tenor Mass and Hexachordal Combinatoriality (which I like to call the “Sudoku of 12-Tone Music).Still, I am SO happy I went to grad school, even if it meant that other things weren’t really happening.

So things like touring and web maintenance kind of fell by the wayside. Not so good, but what can you do. It was all worth it.

At the moment, I’m in Austin, TX with the National Guitar Workshop. This past month was a direct result of grad school as I had no tours booked and the Workshop called me and asked if I would be Logistics Director. And so on June 26, I hopped on a plane and went to Washington, D.C.

OK, gotta run – we need to pick up this week’s guest artist at the Austin Airport. More to come…
